Mercedes-Benz sets eyes on smaller cities to fuel further growth
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz is looking to expand its presence in the smaller cities in India where demand for luxury models is expected to grow robustly over the next few years. The automaker, which on Wednesday introduced new GLA and AMG GLE 53 models, plans to enhance its sales and service infrastructure in the non-metro cities to cater to the needs of the increasing number of customers.
Mercedes-Benz GLA and AMG GLE 53 Coupe launched in India
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2024 GLA and the AMG GLE 53 Coupe in India, priced at Rs 50.50 lakh and Rs 1.85 crore respectively, ex-showroom. The new GLA Mercedes-Benz GLA is available in three variants, while the GLE 53 Coupe is available in one variant, but with an extensive list of customising options.
Mercedes-Benz reveals all-electric G-Wagon EQG in India

After new-year lull sales back to peak says Mercedes-Benz India MD
New Delhi: After a lull in the first 15 days of the new year, sales are back to normal and there is a high demand for each model now, with some even on waiting list of 18-24 months, said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday. “In January, first 15 days were a bit slow because most of our customers travel abroad and they were into different engagements, but the next 15 days we have seen an uptick. Like the new GLS that we introduced, we have already sold out for next five months now. That clearly shows demand is still there as such and the momentum should continue as for 2024 is concerned,” Santosh Iyer Mercedes-Benz India told businessline on the sidelines of new launches here.

Tata Motors Ltd has surpassed Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on the stock market to become the most valued automaker in India in terms of market capitalisation. As per Tuesday’s closing price on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the combined market capitalisation of Tata Motors and Tata Motors DVR shares stood at Rs 3.17 lakh crore, compared with Rs 3.13 lakh crore for Maruti Suzuki.
Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe facelift launched at Rs 1.85 crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the facelift for the GLE Coupe – priced from Rs 1.85 crore (before options), the SUV-coupe version of the GLE is only available in AMG 53 form. With the options ticked, Mercedes says prices can go up to Rs 2.25 crore. The second-gen GLE Coupe had been brought to India in 2020, but was discontinued silently before the GLE facelift made its way to the Indian market. The German luxury brand has also taken this opportunity to bring in the GLA facelift at Rs 50.50 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz has updated the GLA SUV for 2024 with minor cosmetic tweaks and a slightly revised interior with more tech. Priced from Rs 50.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new GLA is available in three trims – GLA 200, GLA 220d 4Matic and GLA 220d 4Matic AMG Line – and continues to be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines.
