Tata Power to sell green energy to group companies, MNCs: Praveer Sinha
Speaking with Business Standard over a telephone call, Praveer Sinha, MD and CEO Tata Power, said they would provide integrated green energy solutions to C&I customers. “There are a large number of companies who want to replace their existing energy supply with RE. We are in discussion with large companies including multinationals. We are also in active discussions with companies within the Tata Group, including the new ones which are coming up,” Sinha said.
After coal and gas, govt bolsters hydro capacity to meet rising peak demand
The Ministry of Power said it has “optimised” hydropower generation to make available an additional 4GW capacity, weeks after it instructed fifteen imported coal-based and all gas-based thermal plants to be operational during the summer months. With peak power demand set to touch 240 GW in June, the ministry’s latest effort to avoid supply shortfall reflects growing concern over risk of outages, particularly amid poll season demand surge and a hotter-than-usual summer.

Amplus Solar aims at 2 GW RE capacity by December
Amplus Solar plans to have 2 GW of cumulative renewable energy capacity, across solar and wind power, by the end of 2024, managing director and CEO Sharad Pungalia said. Moreover, the company also plans to expand its portfolio to include battery storage energy systems (BESS) in order to provide round-the-clock energy solutions. It will continue to look at other avenues, including green fuel or green hydrogen to promote green transition.
SAIL-Bhilai to set up Chhattisgarh's first 15-Mw floating solar plant

“In a major step towards this, Bhilai Steel Plant has taken up the project of installation of a 15 MW capacity floating solar plant in its Maroda-1 reservoir,” a BSP spokesperson said. The project is being implemented through NTPC-SAIL Power Supply Company Limited (NSPCL), a 50:50 joint venture company of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and SAIL. The solar plant will be set up in Durg district.
Rooftop solar subsidy scheme a billion dollar opportunity for Tata Power
The central government’s rooftop solar subsidy scheme for households could present a $1 billion-plus business opportunity for Tata Power, the company’s managing director Praveer Sinha said. The opportunity will play out over the coming three years, as the company looks to corner a fifth of the domestic market for solar modules, Sinha added.
