Tata Motors is likely to introduce a panoramic sunroof on its Nexon compact SUV days after its rival, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, got it as a segment-first feature.

The Tata Nexon had an incredible 2023 and till January 2024 the compact SUV was one of the top five best-selling vehicles in India. Since February, the Nexon has been tumbling in the list and by April last month, it was knocked out of the top 10 selling cars. Without wasting any time, Tata Motors is gearing up to launch an updated top model version with a slew of new equipment including a panoramic sunroof.

Tata Motors has introduced new entry-level variants for the Nexon, effectively bringing its starting price down. The move comes just days after rival Mahindra XUV 3XO (XUV300 facelift) was launched in India. The Tata Nexon petrol is now priced from Rs 8 lakh, while pricing for diesel variants starts from Rs 10 lakh.

The Tata Nexon has retained its title as India’s best-selling utility vehicle (UV) for the third fiscal year in a row in FY2024 with wholesales of 1,71,697 units in the 12-month period of April 2023 to March 2024. The Nexon, which is equipped with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains, was also the country’s best-selling SUV in FY2023 and FY2022.

Tata’s EVs continue to get significant discounts and benefits during the month of April. Tata Motors has expanded the Nexon compact SUV’s already expansive line-up by adding five new AMT variants. The Nexon petrol-AMT range now starts at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the Smart+ trim while the diesel-AMT versions are now priced from Rs 11.80 lakh for the Pure trim. At launch, the most affordable Nexon petrol-AMT was priced at Rs 11.70 lakh and the entry point to the diesel-AMT range cost Rs 13 lakh (both based on the mid-spec Creative trim).
